Sophomore team captain Sydnei McCaskill is one of the premiere guards in the state of Florida. An excellent defender and a focal point of the Panther offense, McCaskill averaged 12.4 points and 6.5 assists per game this year. She led the team and county in 3-point baskets as a freshman, and this year has played a key leadership role for this Panther team.
Though they have the youngest roster in the NHSI tournament, Dr. Phillips comes to North Bethesda ranked #44 in the ESPN RISE FAB 50. They’re stacked with freshmen and sophomores, but that hasn’t stopped the Panthers from claiming the FHSAA Class 6A state title, the Peach State Holiday Invitational championship, and the Florida Prospect’s Holiday Tournament throughout their 2010-11 season. The team is currently riding a 15-game win streak and, in addition to McCaskill, features freshman guard Taryn Griffey, the Panther’s leading scorer with 15.1 points per game and the daughter of former major leaguer Ken Griffey Jr.
