Son of Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers, Austin Rivers is rated the number one player in high school basketball. Headed to Duke in the fall, he holds the top spot in the ESPNU 100 and is a 2011 McDonald’s All-American, 2011 Jordan Brand All-American, the 2011 Naismith Player of the Year, and the 2011 Morgan Wootten Player of the Year. Rivers’ averaged 28.8 points as a senior and put himself in the history books as Winter Park’s all-time leading scorer with over 2,900 career points.
Ranked #15 in the ESPN RISE FAB 50, Winter Park comes to NHSI hot off their second consecutive 6A state championship. The title was the second in Winter Park history and was the first time in central Florida that a 6A school won back-to-back championships. David Bailey’s Wildcats recorded several big wins this season against Dr. Phillips (FL), Montverde Academy (FL), and Dwyer (FL).
