#3 Murry Bergtraum (New York)

The driving force behind this Murry Bergtraum Team, Gomez is a five-foot-seven senior point guard who looks to pass first but can also score when needed. She is the team’s leader on the court and will be playing her college ball at Canisius. She scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the Lady Blazers’ PSAL Class AA championship game and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
After losing seven seniors – four of which were starters – to graduation, the buzz around New York City was that this year would finally be the year that Murry Bergtraum would be vulnerable. But this group had other ideas. Benefitting from stellar team chemistry, the Lady Blazers squad finished the year 22-3, defeating South Shore 56-48 at Madison Square Garden earlier this month to earn their thirteenth straight Public Schools Athletic League Class AA championship. They will be heading to the New York State Federation Tournament at the end of March to compete for their sixth Federation title under Grezinsky.
